Peter emigrated to America from Germany with his father and grandfather in 1860 when he was 8 years old. The independent Rheinland Palatinate was about to be added to either the French, Prussian (German) or Austro-Hungarian Empires (It became part of Prussia in 1871, which later became Germany.) Peter's grandfather had been in the Imperial Guard (Napoleon's bodyguard)at Waterloo and knew too well what war would bring. Crop failures, famine and a cholera epidemic added to their decision to leave.
They made their home in Winnebago County then Hancock County, Iowa. Peter was a farmer, a store owner, and a traveling Methodist preacher. His first wife, Rosetta Lacklore (a cousin) and only child died. With his second wife, Louisa Denzel, he raised twelve children. In his late 60's he moved to Minnesota with his son, Reuben, where he passed away at age 72.
His Grandfather was Jean Adam Seibert 1792-1882, Find-A-Grave number 68956626. "Adam Seibert" was buried in Madison Township Cemetery,Forest City, Hancock County,Iowa, USA. Jean Adam came with to America with his son, Jacob Seibert and grandson, Peter. Adam was in Napoleon's Imperial Guard at Waterloo and other battles.
