My great great grandmother had a very lengthy obituary published by her deeply mourning family:

Mount Horeb Times, Thursday, 16 June 1904

Mrs Post Stricken
On last Friday morning our people were grieved to learn that Mrs Lawrence Post of Perry had suffered a stroke of paralysis and remained in an unconscious condition. Relatives at a distance were summoned, who came to her bedside, when all was don that could be to revive her, and gladness came to many anxious hearts when the good lady commenced to show signs of consciousness, and it is gratifying to all to learn that she is on the way to recovery.

Mount Horeb Times Friday 22 December 1911

Relieved by death from the pains and worry of this vale of tears.

Mrs Lawrence Post of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin was born in Baden, Germany on 4 Sep 1846 and died 14 Dec 1911, at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 10 days. Mrs Post's maiden name was Mary T. Heller, and she was the daughter of Christian and Juliana Heller. Her father died in her infancy, and she came to America with her widowed mother when still a child. The immigrants of those days were mostly poor, and in order to assist her mother she worked in Madison and Milwaukee from her tenth year of age until her marriage.

She was united in holy matrimony to Mr Lawrence Post, of the town of Perry, Dane County, Wisconsin 16 Jul 1866, and went to housekeeping on section four in the town of Perry, wis. where she resided until April, 1907, when Mr and Mrs Post moved to the village of Mt Horeb, Wisconsin where the latter died, as above stated.

To this happy union were born seven children, namely: P. J. R. Post of Sauk City, Wisconsin, George L. Post, Frances T., now Mrs Anton Metz, Mary Helena, now Mrs Joseph Metz, all of Madison, Wisconsin, August and Eugene Post of Perry Wis., and Julia A. now Mrs S. J. Schneider, who was unable to come.

Funeral services were held at the house and in St. Salvator's church, Perry, and her remains were interred in the cemetery near the church on 16 Dec 1911. Father Rohner officiated at the house and church, paid a tender tribute to the memory of the departed, and spoke words of consolation and admonition.

Mrs. Post was an exceptional strong and bright woman, ever ready to lend a helping hand where needed, and was known for her hospitality, ever willing to feed the hungry and harbor the strangers. Therefore we have every reason to believe that the words of our Saviour, which he will address to the elect, will also be applied to her: "Come, ye blessed of my father, possess you the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in," Matthew 25:34-35.

She was greatly attached to her husband and children, performed the household duties faithfully, proving herself at all times as a good wife, loving mother, a true Christian, and follower of Christ. Although she was an invalid during a period of over seven years, she never murmured or complained; and with that strong faith in her Creator and confidence in her Redeemer, strengthened with the holy sacraments of the church she departed from this life in peace.

She leaves to mourn her loss her aged husband, seven children and twenty-seven grandchildren, one brother and two sisters, besides a large circle of friends. The honorary pall-bearers at Mt Horeb were: Messrs. L. Eichman and John Schlimgen of Madison, Messrs. F. Luder, Math. Lynch, J. W. Smith and P. G. Krogh of Mt. Horeb, Wis. The actual pall bearers at Perry were Messrs L. Keller, L. Haag, Joseph Bowar, George Smith and August Goebel.

That she may rest in peace and that we may all be united in that happy home in heaven above is the sincere with and fervent prayer of her husband and children.

DEATH

Out of the shadows of sadness,
Into the sunshine of gladness,
Into the light of the blest;
Out of a land very dreary,
Out of a world very weary,
Into the rapture of rest.
Out of to-day's sin and sorrow,
Into a blissful to-morrow,
Into a day without gloom;
Out of a land filled with sighing,
Land of the dead and the dying,
Into a land without tomb.
Out of a life of commotion,
Tempest-swept oft as the ocean,
Dark with the wrecks drifting o'er;
Into a land calm and quiet,
Never a storm cometh nigh it,
Never a wreck on its shore.
Out of a land in whose bowers
Perish and fade all the flowers;
Out of a land of decay,
Into the Eden where fairest
Of flowerlets, and sweetest and rarest,
Never shall wither away.

Out of the world of the wailing
Thronged with the anguished and ailing,
Out of the world of the sad,
Into the world that rejoices
World of bright visions and voices
Into the world of the glad.
Out of a life ever mournful,
Out of a land very lornful,
Where in bleak exile we roam,
Into a joy-land above us,
Where theres's a father to love us
Into our home - "Sweet Home."

CARD OF THANKS.
We, the undersigned, do hereby wish to express our heartfelt thanks to each and every one, who so generously and cheerfully contributed words or deeds to soothe and comfort our dearly beloved wife and mother in all these years of her affliction; to all friends for their kind expressions of sympathy and condolence for our sad bereavement. Especially do we desire to thank Mrs Luder, Mrs Tyvan, and Mrs N. C. Evans. Furthermore the ladies of the G. A. R. for the beautiful flowers and their presence in a body to pay the last tribute of respect to their departed sister; last but not least to Father Rohner for his many visits to our afflicted mother, who with his sympathetic heart and tender hands so often gave her the bread of life, absolution and God's blessing.

That all may be rewarded and blessed for their kind and charitable acts is our sincere wish.
