Virginia Elva Minear was born to William and Lydia Packle-Hymer Minear on March 25, 1844 in Fannin County, Texas.
When Virginia was about 6 years old her father was murdered for his horse and a new saddle leaving her mother to raise six daughters and one son, born after his death.
Virginia married George Hay July 4, 1865 in Bandera, Texas. George had previously been married to her sister, Amanda, who died in 1863.
George and Virginia had 10 children: Jessie Georgianna, Francis Towle, Janet Virgine, Charles Frederick William, Joseph A.M., Mary Emma, John Samuel Stevens, and twins Ora and Ola. More information on these children is detailed in George's memorial.
Virginia passed away Nov. 6, 1941 and is buried in Bandera, Texas.
