Amy Alene DeJarnette Baldwin, age 96, died Monday, July 5, 2010 in Bellingham.

She was born April 16, 1914 in Dresdan, Missouri, to Millard Filmore and Nora Della (Wood) DeJarnette. In her childhood, Amy attended school in Waverly, Kansas, where she graduated from high school and then pursued a teaching degree at Emporia Kansas State Teacher's College.

After teaching school in Kansas for four years she then moved to Bellingham, Washington, where she married Theodore John Baldwin on May 7, 1937. Together they farmed and raised their family in Whatcom County. Amy thoroughly enjoyed farm life; fishing in local streams and rivers and she treasured time with her family.

Preceded in death by her husband, Theodore, in 1988; son, Herbert, in 1982; daughter, Brenda, in 1999; four brothers; and one sister.

Graveside services will be conducted Friday, July 9, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at Ten Mile Cemetery, 6268 Medcalf Road, Bellingham.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Lynden.
