MRS. IVA DIXSON
Iva Mitchell, daughter of Rev. Morris and Dora Mitchell, was born in Fairfield, Jefferson county, Iowa, on June 19, 1865, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Etta Nelson, in Chariton, Iowa on January 13, 1930, at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 25 days.
She was married to Charles E. Dixson at Fairfield, Iowa, on October 24, 1881. To this union four children were born, two sons and two daughters, three of whom are living. They are Mrs. Etta Nelson and Raymond Dixson, of Chariton, Iowa, and James Dixson, of Lucas. The youngest daughter died in infancy in 1897.
She also leaves eight grandchildren, besides an aged father and mother, two brothers, Mr. Ad Mitchell, of Williamson, Iowa, Mr. Marion Mitchell, of Lucas, and three sisters, Mrs. Will Johns, of Lucas, Mrs. Florence Garber, of Fairfield and Mrs. Grace Leeny, of Los Angeles, California.
The early years of her life were spent on a farm north of Fairfield and in 1895 they moved to Lucas which place has since been her home. Her husband passed away on Nov. 8, 1916.
Mrs. Dixson has been in failing health for years. The last few months were spent in Chariton at the home of her daughter, where she was cared for by her children. Everything possible was done to restore her to normal health, but to no avail.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. G. J. Cornford, of the United Brethren church, were held at her late home in Lucas on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, after which interment took place in the Fry Hill cemetery.
