Sam J. Gómez, 69 of Cerro , NM passed away at Miners Colfax Medical Center in Ratón on June 22, 2010. Sam was born on October 2, 1940 to Fred and Elvira Gómez in Cerro, NM.
He enjoyed farming. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Della Gómez, two sons Sammy Gómez Jr. and Johnny Gómez, five brothers Luís Gómez, Fred Gómez, Joe Gómez, Juan Gómez, Ernest Gómez, two sisters Martha Mascareñas and Pearl Vigil.
Sam is survived by his sons Robert (Marcie) Gómez of Cerro, Norbert Gómez of Cerro, one daughter Bernice (Ronnie) Cárdenas of Cerro, Six grandchildren Robert Gómez Jr., Briana Gómez, Sabrina Gómez, Samantha Martínez, Angel Martínez, and Kristen Cardenas, four great grandchildren Jacob, Jerome, Jason, Joaquín Martínez. Brother Roy Gómez of Cerro, Brother-inlaw Jerry Mascareñas and Gilbert Vigil and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass was held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Cerro with interment to following at Cerro Cemetery.
