James Earl "Bay" Harvey, Sr., a former bus driver, security guard and truck driver for Western Petrochemical, died at 7:25 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at his home in Baton Rouge. He was 71, a native of Baton Rouge and U.S. Navy veteran.
Visiting at Carney-Mackey Funeral Home, 1576 Robin St. Visiting at First Presbyterian Church of Scotlandville, 1246 Rosenwald Road, until religious service, conducted by the Rev. Sandra Martin. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery.
He is survived by 10 daughters, eight sons, three sisters, five brothers, 30 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Lewis J.A. Harvey Jr. and Pearl Mary Baptiste; three children, two brothers, a sister and a special friend, Charles Clay Sr.
Bay was a quartet gospel singer for more than 50 years. He lived to sing God's praises.
