The remains of Mr. Powell, who died at the home of J. B. Hagerman on the West side, were taken to Chariton, Iowa, his old home yesterday, accompanied by his ten children, all grown.
He was married to Esther Ann Gage in 1853, and moved to Illinois, and later to Iowa. His wife died Feb. 19, 1891, and was buried in Chariton, Iowa. Twelve children were the result of their union, ten of whom survive, and were present at the funeral yesterday.

ENOS POWELL FUNERAL
At the age of 72 years, Enos S. Powell, once well-known citizen of this city, answered the death summons and passed away October 5, 1904, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Anna Hagerman, at Beatrice, Neb. Mr. Powell had suffered with cancer of the stomach which at last caused his death.
The remains were brought to Chariton where funeral services were held from the M. E. church, Saturday, October 8, 1904, conducted by the Rev. J. H. Yaggy, of the United Brethren church. The remains were laid to rest in the Chariton cemetery beside those of his wife, who passed away some thirteen years ago.
Mr. Powell was born December 13, 1831, in Greene county, N. Y. He was united in marriage in 1853 to Esther Ann Gage. They lived in Illinois until 1870 when they came to Lucas county and for twenty-five years resided in Lincoln township.
Twelve children were born to them, eleven of whom are still living and all but one were present when he died. He was universally loved and respected by all who knew him and had a wide circle of friends here. He was a devoted member of the United Brethren church.
The children present at the funeral were Mrs. John Hagerman, Mrs. Ella Sampson, Mrs. Mary Ford, Enos Powell Jr., of Beatrice, Neb., Eugene Powell, of Des Moines, and Fred Powell, of this city. A large number of his old friends gathered at the church to pay the last respect to the memory of Enos Powell.
