Rites Sunday P.M. For Mrs. Riffe In Christian Church
Services for Mrs. O.H. Riffe were at 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Christian church after her death Thursday in a Frederick hospital. She had been ill much of the time the past six years, and seriously ill since July. She had been taken to the hospital Monday before her health.
Rev. Omer Delk conducted the service and was assisted by Rev. D.C. Murphree and Rev. Harry O. Hubbard. Burial was in the Carnegie cemetery. Friends from many parts of the state were here for the service.
Dora Myrtle Blair was born Feb. 26, 1885, in Redwine, Ky. She was married to Oscar H. Riffe in Wrigtley, Ky., Nov. 11, 1905, and to them six sons and three daughters were born. Mr. and Mrs. Rife moved to Frederick in 1910, and in 1928 came to the community six miles northwest of Carnegie where they have since lived. One son, Victor H. Riffe, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Riffe joined the Christian church at the age of 17 and in 1938 with her family united with the Mt. Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian church near her home. She was active in church and community work until she became ill.
Survivors in her immediate family are her husband, O.H. Riffe, of the home; five sons, Bill and Levern Riffe, Oklahoma City; Homer Riffe, Garland, Texas; Pete Riffe, at home, and Jack Riffe, Neosho, Mo., and three daughters, Mrs. Virginia Clay, Okmulgee; Mrs. Emma Taylor, Carnegie, and Ida Vae Stewart, Paris, Texas.
Other near relatives include her mother, Mrs. Jennie Blair, Frederick; seven sisters, Mrs. M.H. Lewis, Frederick; Mrs. James Elam, Friendsville, Tenn.; Mrs. Mose Acree, Gibson City, Ill.; Mrs. C.O. Thomas, Lubbock, Texas; Mrs. J.P. Young, Dallas; Mrs. L.L. Kilgore and Mrs. Lee Long, Frederick, and two brothers, Frank Blair of Frederick and Wade Blair, Mathew, Ky. Also five daughters-in-law, three sons-in-law, 15 grandchildren and 40 nieces and nephews. Her husband, all the children, her mother and six sisters and one brother were here for the service.
Other members of the family attending the service were M.H. Lewis, Winfred and Clyde Lewis and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Lewis and daughter, Hollister; L.L. Kilgore, Mrs. Maxine Watson, Mrs. Jannette Crowl, Mrs. Mary Helen Bagwell, Mrs. Frank Blair and Lee Long, Frederick; C.O. Thomas, Lubbock; M.F. Acree, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Acree and Miss Virgina Acree, Gibson City, Ill.
