Obituary
Katherine Elizabeth (Betty) McClure went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 24, 2009. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 26, 1927 to Ernest and Katherine Stickels. Her family moved to Columbus, Ohio when she was twelve and she lived in Columbus and the surrounding area until she moved to Punta Rassa in 1980.
Betty is survived by her son Stephen H. (Karen) Scott and her daughter Marjorie (Ralph) Kaparos; a brother, Ernest (Bud) Stickels, Jr. and his wife Phyllis of Eden, NC; 2 step-daughters Gail (Fred) Nickols and Cindy Babione both of Ohio; grandchildren Derek (Samantha) Scott, Jared Scott, Ashley Scott, Andrew Kaparos and Colin Kaparos; step-grandchildren Rick Clarkson, Kari Hunter and Todd Babione. She is also survived by a niece Kathy (Jim) Hare, and nephews Mark Stickels and Scott (Liz) Stickels and their children. She was the widow of the late Gerald (Bud) Lawson and the late Robert McClure. Betty maintained lifelong friendships with her Columbus schoolmates and made many new friends at the Hideaway and later at Barkley Place. She enjoyed her life and never knew a stranger.
A service in honor of her life will be held at Barkley Place, 36 Barkley Circle, Ft. Myers, FL on Sunday, January 10th at 3:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908 or Safe Harbor Community Church, 12960 Plantation Rd., Ft. Myers, FL 33966.
