Mrs. Ruby Ellen Blackburn, 88, of Pliny passed away Sunday, March 23, 2008, at CAMC General Hospital following a long illness.
Ruby was born on April 23, 1919, to the late Matthew and Ruby Wright Dodson in Memphis, Tenn. She was a homemaker and attended Harmony Baptist Church, Southside.
Ruby is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Fred N. Blackburn; daughter, Mollie B. Bailey and her husband, James Van of Bethel, Ohio; son, Fred T. Blackburn and his wife, Carol, of Fraziers Bottom; grandsons and their wives, Matthew R. and Stacy Bailey of Bethel, Ohio, Tommy and Lynn Blackburn of Winfield, and Kyle W. Blackburn of Eleanor; great-granddaughter, Madison Elizabeth Bailey of Bethel, Ohio; great-grandson, Ethan Thomas Blackburn of Winfield; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Blackburn of Stanville, Ky., Beatrice Justice of Pikeville, Ky., and Betty Butcher and her husband, Eugene, of Pikeville, Ky.; and very special friends, Mr. and Mrs. William Stover of Pliny.
Funeral service for Ruby will be noon Wednesday, March 26, at Thacker Funeral Home, 745 Hambley Blvd., Pikeville, Ky., with Pastor Monty Foster officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Anna Young Cemetery, Pikeville, Ky.
