Robert Leroy "Bob" Barber, son of John Robert and Leona Fulbright Barber, was born October 24, 1933, near Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, November 18, 1994, in his home near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-one years, and twenty-four days.

On October 6, 1956, he was united in marriage to Audrey Jane Mizer and to this union one daughter was born. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ellen; and four brothers, Joel E., Lawrence, Marvin, and Glen.

"Bob" is survived by his wife, Audrey, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Kay and Kenny R. Smith, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Angst, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Ethel Dennis, of Dover, Missouri; two brothers, Lloyd Barber, of North Kansas City, Missouri, and Forrest Barber, of Quincy, Missouri; four grandchildren, Doug, Allissa, Jennifer, and Kenneth Robert Smith; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

He was born and raised in the Lebanon area. He made his home in the Kansas City area for twenty-five years where he worked as a diesel mechanic for the Cummins Diesel Company. He and Audrey returned to Lebanon in 1980 where he built the B. & L. Diesel Service which he operated for several years. After selling the diesel service, he worked at B & D Truck Port for three years.

"Bob" accepted Christ as his personal Savior, and he told his wife, Audrey, that when he no longer could live here with her and the children, he was ready to go home to live with Jesus.

He enjoyed the country and loved nature. He was very family oriented and centered his world around his grandchildren.

"Bob" was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.

Services for Robert Leroy "Bob" Barber were held Monday, November 21, 1994, at the Holman Chapel with Rev. Hal Hightower and Rev. Dean Rhoades officiating. Burial was in the Mount Rose Memorial Park, under the direction of the Holman Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Music was by Jennifer Jones, soloist; Karen Hightower, Polly Wolf, and Fern Hale of the Ladies Trio; as well as Jerry Hoke, organist. Selections were "Daddy's Home" and "Sweet Hour of Prayer."

Escorts were Dave Amos, Eddie Barber, Wayne Sims, Ervin Angst, Terry Bench, and Matt Smith.

Honorary escorts were Bob Hudson, Kevin Lewis, and Carl Telander.
