Orville L. Stoops, 71, of 1561 Black Gap Road, Fayetteville died at 11:30 P. M. on Friday, Nov 8 in the Chambersburg Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past two years and was critically ill since being admitted to the hospital on Wednesday.

Born Oct 4, 1914 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Percy M. and Ida (Bonner) Stoops. He lived his early life in the Waynesboro area and at Pond Bank.

Before his retirement in 1977 he was employed as a molder in the foundry at Frick Co. for 38 years.

His first wife Mrs. Reba (Bumbaugh) Stoops died in September 1969. He and his second wife, Mrs. Mary (McKendrick) Mull Stoops, had lived at the present residence since their marriage in March 1972.

Stoops attended the Fayetteville Church of God.

In additon to his wife, he is survived by these children; Eugene Bumbaugh, Mont Alto; Mrs. Janet Hardsock, Pond Bank; Mrs. Fay McKee and Miss Vivian Stoops, both of Altoona, Mrs. Isabelle Miller, McConnellsburg; Glenn Stoops; Waynesboro; Mrs. Connie Craig; Blue Ridge Summit; and Marilyn Stoops of Chambersburg.

Also surviving are these step children; Robert Mull of St. Thomas; Charles Fickes of Chambersburg and Mrs. Margie Poe, Gary Mull, Barry Mull and Richard Fickes, all of Fayetteville; 22 grandchildren; 17 step grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, 13 step great grandchildren; and these sisters and brothers; Mrs. Frances Besecker, South Mountain, Mrs. Naomi Finafrock, Mrs. Arlene Bluebaugh, Mrs. Irene Baughman, Eugene Stoops and Mrs. Shirley Hunsberry all of Waynesboro, and Carl Stoops Florida.

Services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 P. M. in the Grove Funeral Home with the Rev. George Mouer and the Rev. John Ritchey officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 P. M.
