Roscoe R. Ross Dies Suddenly - Lineman Stricken While Working -
Roscoe R. Ross, 52, lineman for the Puget Sound Power and Light Co. died on a pole where he was working on Columbia street between 12th and 13th about 10 o'clock this morning. A physician who was called to the scene said he believed death was due to a heart attack.
The crew was engaged in changing secondary low-voltage wires when Ross was noticed dangling unconscious over a cross-arm. Under the direction of Randolph Christoferson, foreman of the four-man crew, Ross was immediately lowered to the ground with ropes. First aid was rendered by the crewmen until the Ellensburg Fire department squad arrived with an inhalator. All efforts to revive Ross failed.
Ross, a native of Broken Bow, Neb., had lived in Ellensburg for the past six years.
He is survived by his widow, Goldie of Ellensburg; a daughter, Mrs. Pauline Scott of Pendleton, Ore.; four sons, Leo Ross of the U.S. Army; Jimmy Ross, a Central Washington College student, and Denny and Lennie Ross, also of Ellensburg; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Ross of Grand Island, Neb., and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
