Claudia Chapel Richardson was born on April 26, 1884, in Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri, died on November 2, 1930, in St. Louis City, Missouri, at age 46, and was buried in Oaklawn Cemetery, Jonesboro, Craighead County, Arkansas.
Her parents were Susan Elizabeth Allison and Joseph Marion Richardson originally from Tennessee. She married Randolph Millard Dorrance on April 20, 1903, in Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri.
Randolph Millard Dorrance was born on September 8, 1876, in Elk Fork, Pettis County, Missouri, died on December 19, 1925, in Warrensburg, Johnson County, Missouri, at age 49, and was buried in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Warrensburg, Johnson County, Missouri. His parents were Elmedia Bradley from Ohio and Isaac R. Dorrance from Illinois.
Claudia and Randolph's three children were born in Jefferson City: Ward Allison, born on April 30, 1904; Mildred Eloise, born on August 25, 1906; and Jack Courtney, born on April 30, 1909.
They divorced about 1918, and Claudia and the children came home from Kansas City to live with her parents in their boarding house. She worked as a stenographer at the state capitol and then the Missouri Pacific Railroad in Jefferson City and St. Louis, Missouri.
When Claudia was transferred to St. Louis about 1928, Mildred went with her mother and worked at the Wabash Railway Company. Jack completed one year of college at the University of Missouri and became a salesman at Rice-Stix. Ward taught at the University of Missouri and later went to the Sorbonne to take his doctor's degree.
Susan Elizabeth, Claudia's mother, was a widow. She moved to Jonesboro, Arkansas, to be with Margaret about 1927. Later Susan moved to St. Louis, Missouri, to help Claudia when she became ill.
Claudia died in 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri, and was buried in the family plot at Jonesboro, Arkansas, that her sister, Margaret, had bought for them; and Susan returned to Margaret's home to live.
