PANHANDLE - Funeral services for John [sic] David Phillips, 31, will be at 2 p.m Thursday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Doug Harvey, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

Mr. Phillips died Monday in a car accident in Panhandle.

He was born Jan. 27, 1961 in Austin, and had been a lifetime resident of Panhandle.

He was senior vice president of First National Bank of Panhandle; a director of First National Bank of Panhandle, First State Bank of Tulia, and Panhandle Bankshares, Inc.; member of Independent Bankers Association and Young Bankers Association, Panhandle Rotary Club, past president of the Panhandle Chamber of Commerce, was a member of the Carson County Square House Museum Board, served on the Panhandle Economic Committee, and was a member of First Christian Church where he was a deacon.

He married Denise Urbanczyk May 21, 1983 in White Deer.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jay Patrick in 1988. He was the grandson of the late J.C. Phillips, former editor-manager of the Borger News-Herald.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Joseph and Austin, both of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Phillips of Panhandle; a brother, Robert Phillips of Panhandle; two sisters, Julie Eagan of Wiley, Colo.; and Marcia Lamberson of Claude.
