Elizabeth Banks
(January 28, 1922 - April 24, 2008)

Elizabeth Banks slipped into a peaceful sleep on Thursday, April 24, 2008, in Sentara CarePlex Hospital, Hampton, Virginia. Her life's journey, here on earth, began January 28, 1922, the daughter of the late Rosezelia and King Roberts, of James City County, Virginia.

Elizabeth was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of James City County Training School. At any early age, she gave her life to Christ and confessed Him as her Personal Savior. She was a devoted member of Little Zion Baptist Church. She served her church faithfully as a member of the Missionary Society, the Usher Board, the Prayer Band and a member of the Prayer Band Choir. She was a faithful servant of God until her demise. During her lifetime, she touched the hearts of many and made countless lifelong friends. She was well-loved and will be remembered for her loving and caring ways.

She leaves to cherish her precious and blessed memories, her husband, Mack H. Banks; her daughters, Ruth Price (Frank), of Newport News, Linda Ward (Otis), of Matteson Illinois and Alice Altenor (Nicholas), of Williamsburg; her sons, Mack R. Banks (Janet), and James Banks, (Celestine), both of Williamsburg, Stanley Banks (Mattie) and Major Banks (Melvina), both of Newport News; her sisters, Catherine Dickerson (Charles), Lillie Bell and Amanda Roberts, all of Williamsburg; her brothers, Charles Roberts, of Williamsburg, Leroy Roberts (Jean), of Newport News and Rev. Carl Roberts, of Toano; her twenty-five grandchildren; an abundance of greatgrandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives, her church family and many caring friends.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, in Little Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Linwood T. Gatling officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 8612 Pocahontas Trail by 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mrs. Banks may be viewed hi the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday. Professional service entrusted to the staff of Whiting's Funeral Home, Williamsburg. 757-229-3011.
