Albert Lee Smith was a son of William Richard Smith and his wife Louvisa Caddell. He married Janie Gibson (1894-1936) in 1915, and they had seven children: Janie Louise, Willie Elizabeth, Albert Lee Jr., William Nelson, Eleanor Grace, Lenora Ruth and Doris Jean Smith. They were living in Richmond Co., NC in 1930, but sometime before Janie's death in 1936, moved to Robeson Co. After Janie's death, Albert married Annie Lee Edmund, and lived in Lumberton, NC.
