TRAGIC DEATH OF GEORGE ELMORE - KILLED IN WRECK ON A. B. & A. RAILROAD SUNDAY MORNING.

George Elmore is no longer here upon this earth of sin and sorrow, His kind face will never be seen in Oglethorpe. It was not seen around the dear old family table last Sunday where a home like dinner had been prepared by the tender loving hands of mother and sisters. Only a vivid picture of this noble, loving boy remains to comfort the sad hearts of those who were patiently awaiting his arrival Sunday at noon.

The story of his untimely death is too horrible to relate. It would probably only open the fresh wounds which his sudden passing made in the hearts of his loved ones. Still his life deserves a tribute much greater than can be painted by words or by pen, and the whole story will interest the hundreds of friends who were fortunate enough to know George Elmore.

He had planned a trip to Oglethorpe to spend the day with his mother, Mrs. J. S. Elmore. There was a crash and he was pinned beneath the wreckage of a demolished train and his life snuffed out.

It is reported that a wheel of the front truck under the white coach had broken and the car was derailed just at the approach of a trestle and the car tumbled into Camp Creek a distance of fifty feet. There were six others killed outright, while seventeen were more or less seriously injured.

The body of Mr. Elmore arrived at Oglethorpe over the Central of Georgia at 1:30 Monday and was taken to the home of his mother, Mrs. J. S. Elmore.

The funeral was conducted at the Lutheran Church at 3:30 by Rev. Charles A. Phillips.

The deceased was thirty-six years old, and is survived by his mother, Mrs. J. S. Elmore, and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Belle Powers, Mrs. C. T. Harden and Mrs. W. M. English of Quitman, two brothers, Eugene Elmore of Anderson, S.C. and C. B. Elmore of Augusta.
