Baytown Man Dies in Marlin VA Hospital

Lonnie E Bryant, 26, lifelong resident of Baytown, died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in a veterans' hospital in Marlin as the result of injuries received in a traffic accident in Germany on Sept 1, 1968.

Bryant was injured in a motorcycle accident while stationed there with the U.S. Army.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo M Bryant of 2404 Kilgore spent five weeks in Germany while he was hospitalized there. The young soldier was transferred to San Antonio, then to a Houston veterans' hospital and from there to the hospital in Marlin.

A graduate of Robert E Lee High School in 1964, Bryant also attended Cedar Bayou Junior High School.

Survivors other than his parents include his sister, Mrs. Larry Phillips of Highlands and her children, Kristi Jan and Ross Lee; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Bryant of Houston; great-grandmother Mrs. Rebecca Minter of Jacinto City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Earthman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. E. R. Burns officiating.

Burial will be in Cedar Crest Cemetery under the direction of Earthman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Joe Bryant, Jimmy Bryant, Eugene Bryant, Eddie Capps, Glenn Fanestiel and David McManus.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Joe Enderli, Johnny Enderli, Jimmy Dacus, Gary Jones, David McDonald and Charles Schaeffer
