Services Held At Local Church For Mrs. Tom Lucas
Funeral services for Mrs. Tom Lucas were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist church with Rev. Bob Williams, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial was in the Carnegie cemetery with Pitcher Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Lucas died Saturday at Curd Clinic after a long illness. She fell and broke her hip in 1953 and had been at the clinic almost eight years. She suffered a stroke about a week ago.
Martha Louise Griswold was born January 13, 1884, Mineral Wells, Texas. She was married to Tom Lucas in 1907. Eight children were born to them, three preceding her in death.
She joined the Baptist church in childhood and was a member at Full Bright, Texas. She and here family moved to the South Pioneer community in 1922 and to Carnegie in 1925.
She is survived by her husband of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Vera Charles, Carnegie, Mrs. Mable Davis, Shafter, Calif., and Mrs. Esther Redden, Oklahoma City; two sons, Ab Lucas and Fred Lucas, both of Strathmore, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
