Funeral Rites Held Sunday Afternoon For Mother Lovell
Mrs. W.A.R. Lovell, "Mother Lovell" to residents here and in almost a dozen other state communities, died at her home on East Main street early March 15, at the age of 87. She had not been seriously ill and passed away quietly and unexpectedly.
Gracious and kind, always cheerful and a devoted Christian. Mother Lovell has been the particular friend of hundreds during her life as a pioneer mother, the wife of a young school teacher and a minister's helpmate. Services were held in the First Christian church at 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon by Rev. T.T. Brown, former pastor, assisted by Rev. Arnold Davis, pastor.
Mary Jane Black was born near Covington, Ohio June 22, 1857. As a child she lived in Illinois and later in Iowa. She was married to Wm. A.R. Lovell July 6, 1876 and to them four children were born.
Besides her husband, Rev. Lovell, she is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Jewell; and three sons, Fred Lovell of Enid; Bruce Lovell of Waukomis; and Herman Lovell of Carnegie; also by her half-brother, Jacob Crick of Wichita who was here for the service, five grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and other near relatives.
Burial was made in the Carnegie cemetery with the Pitcher Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
