He was deployed with the UK contingent of NATO forces in Afghanistan.
Marine Warren died of injuries sustained in an explosion at Patrol Base Airport Lounge in Sangin district, Helmand province.
Aged 23, from Leyland, Lancashire. He joined the Royal Marines in May 2006. In January 2008 he deployed with 45 Commando to northern Norway for two months of cold weather warfare training. He deployed to Afghanistan in September 2008 and served with Whiskey Company, 45 Commando, at Forward Operating Base Jackson and Patrol Base Tangiers in Sangin. He arrived in March 2010 for his second mission in Afghanistan. Senior officers described him as an exceptional Royal Marine and an inspirational role model to his younger colleagues.
Marine Warren's family paid this tribute, "A loving son, a brother and grandson who made us proud as a family. His cheeky smile will be missed by all who knew him." He leaves behind his parents Clifford and Lynn, brothers Neil and Richard, grandparents John and Sheila Barlow and Charles Warren, along with other relatives and friends.
Funeral with full military honours was held pn July 8, 2010 at St Andrew's Parish Church, Leyland.
