Original poem by Etta Allen
When my days on this earth are done
I wish no one to moourn or cry
No one journeying through the years
Has had more of a life than I
And have been loved in return
If there was something I missed
It was nothing for which I yearned
The many friends that I have made
While in the service of mankind
Have brought such happiness to me
As many humans seldom find

Died Tuesday, Dec. 31st unexpectedly, at her home. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Eva Elliott of fowlerville and two sons, Charles and Clarence also of flowlerville, nin grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren. she was a member of trinity Methodist Church in Iosco Twp.

WEBBERVILLE – One of the pioneer daughters of Ingham county is Etti Allen, widow of George Allen a farmer, who for 21 years owned and operated the general store at Parkers'; Corners.

Mrs. Allen was born on the Frost road, 3 miles south of Webberville September 9, 1875, She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fear, farmers of Leroy Township.

She attended the Herrick district school in her early years.

After her marriage to Allen they lived on a farm until they acquired the store and operated a rural merchandising market for the benefit of the farm community.

Two boys and a daughter comprised the
Allen family, Sons Elliot and Clearence and daughter Eva.

After her husband's death in 1943 Mrs. Allen sold the farm and the store. The big house was too big for her when she lived alone.

She built a small house to suit her needs, big enough for her convenience and small enough to be comfortable and homey.

Looking over the colorful furnishings, the well arranged plan with flowers growing up to the door one knows that the lady who lives there enjoys life and knows what it gives to her and that she has much to give in return.

Mrs Allen has many friends in the county and all admire her vivacity and enthusiasm.

She belongs to the Gleaners and is an active member of the local Trinity church where Rev. Harry Gintzer is minister. She is also a member of the W.S.C.S. in the curch.

She has an active part in such church affairs as the training in the children's day program and is happy and eager to act on the committees to clean the church.

Mrs. Allen can relate some interesting stories of early Ingham county history and is able to contribute much to the present day living. (From Ingham County News of June 21, 1857)
