Ruby C. Lambert
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 23, 2010

Ruby C. Lambert, former owner of the Arsenal Street Motel, died on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, after a short illness. Ruby was 89.

Born Ruby C. Johnson in Watertown, NY to the late Paul and Emma Johnson, Ruby graduated from Watertown High School in 1939. She was a member of the Salvation Army Band. On June 23, 1941, Ms. Ruby Johnson wed Mr. Cameron L. Lambert also of Watertown. Mrs. Lambert worked as a teller at the National Bank of Northern New York (Key Bank). Together with her husband, Ruby owned and operated the Rainbow Motel on Bradley Street. After selling the Rainbow Motel, the couple constructed the Arsenal Street Motel in 1961, which they owned and operated together until Cameron's passing in 1965. Mrs. Lambert continued to run the motel, in which her residence was attached, until 1996, at which time, she then relocated to Buffalo, NY to join her children. Until her health allowed, Ruby worked as a greeter for Walmart.

Ruby is survived by a daughter, Ann (Jerome) Duszynski; a son, James (Linda); 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Annette Winton.

Friends may call at the Reed and Benoit Funeral Home (632 State Street) from 3-8 p.m. on June 24, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 25th, at Bethany United Methodist Church (214 West Lynde) with burial at North Watertown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Western New York (2805 Wehrle Drive, Williamsville, NY 14221).

Note: Sister's correct spelling of name is Annette Whitten.
Note: She was a very loving woman and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her. This is my grandmother's sister.
