Michael was born to Jozef and Tekla Ostrega in Poland. Documents show the surname as Ostrega without the 'n'. He was baptized five days after the date of his birth. There are documents that show is birthdate as May 28,1980 and others that show as June 7, 1881.
A marriage arrangement was made to Louise Kotodziej Gallas by her mother. Together they had 11 children: Joseph (went by Ostrenger), Walter, Edward, John, Julia, Martin, Frank, Louise, Albert(George), Stanley and Raymond.
This was my great-grandfather. I've heard stories about Mike through my grandmother of how he was a very hard disciplinarian on his sons and their work on the farm. While I've heard from my mother that he was the most gentle man with his grandchildren.
