Luther Calvin Russ, 89, died Thursday, November 18, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.

Born in Muhlenberg County, June 13, 1915, he was a retired coal miner and a member of Nelson Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shellie Dockery Russ; 5 sons, Dillard C. (Beulah)Russ of Tennyson, IN., Walton (Jo Ann) Russ of Bremen, Gale (Sandra) Russ of Evansville,IN., Lyndell (Brenda) Russ and Gary(Cheryl) Russ both of Central City, 5 daughters, Sue Adcock (Bill) Vincent of Beaver Dam, Joyce (Curtis) Lear of Crofton, Penny (David) Noffsinger, Sherry (Billy) Sharp and Janet (Keith) Casebier, all of Central City; 23 grandchildren, Glendean Majors, Thresea Kincade, Mark Russ, Scott Russ, Kristy Curry, Julie Hodkins, Tammy Poe, Brenda Noe, Terry Handley, Ed Russ, Tim Russ, Shannon Knox, Lori Kaufman, Natalie Adcock, Jeff Noffsinger, Bryan Noffsinger, Kyle Noffsinger, Grant Sharp, Brandon Casebier, Byron Casebier, Aaron Casebier, Megan Russ and Rachel Russ; 35 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Nov. 21 at Nelson Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Donnie Wilkins and the Rev. Tim Adcock officiating.

Burial followed in Nelson Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
