Funeral services for Gabelus Ancelet, 70, of 635 El Paso avenue, a 51-year resident of Port Arthur, will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. in the St. Peter and Paul Catholic church at Scott, La.
Mr. Ancelet died Thursday at 3:20 p.m. in Park Place hospital after an illness of one day.
Burial will be in the church cemetery at Scott under direction of the Martin and Castille Funeral home there.
A rosary was recited today at 8 a.m. in the Grammier-Oberle Funeral home chapel.
A native of Scott, Mr. Ancelet was a retired pipefitter in construction. He was a member of Pipfitters Local No. 195 and St. James Catholic church. He was a veteran of World War I and fought in the Battle of St. Mihiel in Muse, Argonne.
Mr. Ancelet was affectionately known as "Shine."
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lena Ancelet of Port Arthur;
four brothers, Dolia, Wilson and Ambrose Ancelet, all of Port Arthur, and Columbus Ancelet of Nederland; and five sisters, Mrs. A. Gautreaux, Mrs. G. A. Maness, Mrs. T. L. Ellis and Laura Ancelet, all of Port Arthur, and Mrs, A. Dugas of Duson. La.
