Joseph Alfred Saxey was the third child of Alfred Saxey, Jr. and Lillie Anne Thiriot. He had two older sisters, Ora (Bonnie) and Erma. His family moved to Salt Lake City and he attended East High School where he met Ruth Higham. They married February 1, 1930. After the birth of their first two children, "Connie" and Gloria, they moved to California where they had two additional children, Michael and Diane. "Joe" had many talents and was well liked. He was a talented photographer and developed and printed his own photos. He also was a fine pianist and excellent at short hand, a talent he used to make extra money. At the time of his death, he was working at the sheriff's office in Los Angeles. When he went in for a required physical exam it was discovered that he had Leukemia. He died 4 days after his 31st birthday.
