Bessie and her brother were raised by their McMichael grandparents, who are listed as parents on many official documents. Gwena married 2nd a W.J. Thompson in 1926. Gwena (as Gwena Thompson) married Wylie Williams in 1929. He was already a widower; his first wife died within the first year (of TB). Then Gwena died in 1930 (of TB) and the kids stayed with her parents and eventually used the name McMichael.
