George Cassel, 82, Monrovia, Calif., died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Santa Teresita Hospital in Duarte, Calif.
He enjoyed gardening and flowers.
George Cassel was born March 27, 1919, to George Y. and Cecile (Dewey) Cassel near Mason City. He attended school at Mason City.
Mr. Cassel married Hazel Sherbeck Dec, 7, 1937, at Loup City.
The couple farmed near Mason City.
Mr. Cassel served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. During the war, Mr. and Mrs. Cassel moved to California. They lived in northern California for 21 years.
In 1961, they relocated to Monrovia, Calif., where Mr. Cassel worked as an aircraft foreman at McDonnell Douglas from 1964 to 1983.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Cassel, Monrovia, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three half-brothers and two half-sisters.
Graveside services were Feb. 4 at Lee Park Cemetery near Arcadia with Govier Brothers Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
