We can start out with a supposition of humbleness and thankfulness for receiving a good education. An education, which was slow in starting - for Bert "Lucky" Boyack, because of absenteeism due to poor health and/or not being very bright. The name "Bert" was used as it could be spelled more easily than "Delbert Albert," the given name after the maternal uncles, and "Lucky" a self given name linked to life's experiences. A good neighbor, Mrs. Skinner, taught him to read at age 11, in six short weeks, after which elementary and secondary school were more easily attended.
He attained his B.S. and Master's degrees from BYU. His success was due, in all respect, to his brother Harold and his wife, Dona. There were many others who helped him, professors, relatives and friends that are to be remembered. His degrees had enabled him to teach from elementary to college, and he held positions betwixt and between!
For his later years, he took special delight in growing flowers and tomatoes in a cold frame to share with everyone and anyone.
"The marriage, to Lois, has been a happy one, thus proving the fact that 'When you are number 2, you try harder.'"
Bert continued to do some insurance work and wrote two columns, "Profile" (featuring important citizens in the community) and a humor column, "Something for Everyone," for the weekly Davis County Clipper.
