Stoke in the parish of Acton, Co. Cheshire, England.
The family of Vernon of Cheshire is one of the most ancient in England dating from the Norman Conquest.
From Martin's History of Chester County, Pennsylvania:
Robert came from Stoke, in Cheshire, England; he was a Friend, and Monthly Meetings were sometimes held at his house. In 1710 he conveyed his brick "messuage" and 330 acres of land to his son Jacob; his wife Eleanor, came to America with him; she died in 1720, the date of his death is unknown.
Margaret McClanahan Boyle, husband Abraham and children moved to Indiana along with one of his brothers Johannes Jacob, "John Jacob ", after Abraham died Margaret with son Isaac, daughter Hannah and nephew John ( son of William Henry Boyle )removed to Jefferson County, Iowa where she remained until her death in 1851.
All her children had left for California and Oregon and it is unknown why she remained there without any of her family, maybe she became too old to travel.
The census was taken October 11, 1850. " Hannah ", Isaac",and "James " had left and Margaret was gone by the Oct 1852 census that was taken in Iowa. Unknown cemetery. We have to assume she died in Fairfield as she was living there in 1850. Her grandson the famous Henry Green Boyle ( this writers second cousin 1x removed ),said she died 1851 .I have a copy of his diary, there are some mistakes in it on his information from memory, however dates that have been corrected by records.
