Alfredo J. "Hueros" Ontiveros, 83, of Phoenix, formerly of Clarkdale, died December 11. He was born September 30, 1920 in Jerome.

He was a graduate of Clarkdale High School and served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific Theater. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp and was on the crew that built the Old Rock Ranger Station at Seven Springs. On December 10, 1948, he married Josephine Gallegos.

He was employed by Phelps Dodge Corporation for 41 years in Clarkdale and Ajo, first as a smelter repairman and later as a security guard. He was a member of the Catholic faith. He had a passion for Louis L'Amour Cassidy novels and woodworking. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved Clarkdale and the Verde Valley and often referred to it as "God's Country".

He is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Josephine who passed away in 1994. He is survived by three sons, Alfredo, Jr., Ernesto and Arnoldo; two daughters, Isabel Eisenhauer and Mary Jo Ontiveros; two brothers, Herculand and Vincente and two sisters, Gregoya Ramirez and Margaret Ontiveros; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15 in the Westcott Funeral Home from 6-8 PM.

The Rosary will be recited at 7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 16 in the Immaculate Conception Church at 10 AM.

Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Beatitudes Campus, 1616 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85021.
