PAYNE, Denver G., age 83 of Maryville, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member and Deacon for 52 years at Six Mile Baptist Church, a veteran of World War II, having served with the U. S. Navy, retired from ALCOA after 42 years of service and a member of the 25 Year Service Club. He was preceded in death by his father, Sam D. Payne; mother, Dean Boring Williams; son-in-law, Dwight Yearout; grandchildren, Donnie Lee Payne, Jr. and Roma Strickland. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Roma Lois Payne; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Nadine Payne, Don and Susan Payne, William and Sherry Payne, Phil and Yvonne Payne; daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Bob Strickland, Debbie and Mike Pickel all of Maryville; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam and Blanche Payne, Dale and Shirley Payne; brother, D. C. Payne all of Maryville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Burdell and Ernest Yates of Sevierville, Betty and Sam Saputo of MI; sister, Leloa Sparks of Maryville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill White and Rev. Charles Murrel officiating. The interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
