George Hans Doxrud was the son of Hans Didrik Doxrud and Oliva Johanne Jensen Doxrud. He was born in Antwerp, Belgium, on April 22, 1888, and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1896.

He married Annette A. Woll in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the year 1918.

The Social Security Death Index lists a George Doxrud, Social Security Number 165-03-5052, born April 22, 1888, died March 1968. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs BIRLS Death File, 1850-2010 records George's exact death date as March 23, 1968, which differs from the epitaph date March 24, 1968. It also lists his duration of enlistment: July 6, 1918 through November 27, 1918.
His World War I draft registration card lists him as single, 29 years old, and living at 3416 Powelton Avenue, Philadelphia. He is, by this time, a naturalized citizen of the United States and works as an assistant supervisor for the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, Broad Street Station, Philadelphia.
The U. S. Census taken on January 12, 1920, shows that George was living Trenton City, Mercer County, New Jersey, with his wife, Annette, and George H. Jr., their two month old son. Both George and Annette were listed as being aliens in the country, which conflicts with the naturalized status he claimed on his World War I draft registration. George Sr. gave 1913 as the year of his immigration to the United States, indicating that perhaps he left the country after immigrating with his parents, and then returned later. His native language was Flemish, but he was able to speak English. He was a civil engineer for a steam railroad company.

CENSUS 1940: The 1940 United States Census for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, records the following household at 1227 Wakeling Street:
