Raymond L. Biggs, 77, of Springfield died at 11:35 a.m. Thursday at his residence. He was born Aug. 9, 1911, in Springfield, the son of Len and Pearl Monroe Biggs. He married Margaret C. Milstead in 1951, and she died in 1979. Also preceding him in death were his parents and one son, Herbert E. Pierce.
Mr. Biggs had been a resident of Springfield all his life. He was the former owner of the Texaco station, and later the Marathon station at Spring and Edward streets for over 40 years, retiring in 1975. He was a veteran of World War II, and a member of Elks Lodge 158 and American Legion Post 32.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Gerri) Thannen and Mrs. Maenell Schultz, both of Springfield; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
Services at Staab Funeral Home, with the Rev. Delbert G. Keltto officiating. Burial in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
