Billy Connatser, 77, passed away with loved ones by his side early on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at the VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Leininger) Connatser since October 13, 1979. Billy was born in Sevierville, Tenn., on October 18, 1932. He was a son of the late William Milo and Dona Mable (Clinton) Connatser. He worked as a truck driver for the Wilson Freight Steel Company until they closed. He also worked as a coal miner in Cornwall for a few years and worked for A.M. Cable Company until retiring in 1988. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Assembly of Yahweh Church. He enjoyed trains, wood carving, collecting stamps and coins, and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 10 children: sons, Glen Connatser of Lebanon, and Steve and Terry Connatser, both of Jonestown; stepsons, Rick Shirk of Cleona, David Shirk of Stevens, and Tim Shirk of Virginia Beach, Va.; daughters, Brenda Light and Ginger Connatser, both of Jonestown, and Michelle Connatser of Prescott; and stepdaughter, Jodi Bingaman of Stevens. He was Papa to 24 grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Mary Ellen Brown and Melita Arwood, both of Michigan, and Ruby Maples of Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Connatser. All family, friends, and loved ones are asked to join in a celebration of his life at the graveside service Friday at 2 p.m. at Lickdale Trinity United Methodist Bethel Cemetery, 59 Cemetery Road, Fredericksburg, with George Garner officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to either the American Cancer Society , Box 1274, Lebanon, PA 17042; or the VA Hospital, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042.
