He was part of 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles Battle Group deployed with the UK contingent of NATO forces in Afghanistan.
LCpl Breeze was killed in an explosion during operation to clear an area near Check Point Kingshill in Nahr-e Saraj district, Helmand province.
Aged 31, from Manchester. LCpl Breeze enlisted in 1996 and served in the United Kingdom and Cyprus, and on operations three times in Northern Ireland, twice in Iraq. He deployed in March 2010 on his first tour of duty in Afghanistan. Known as "Breezy" or "Windy" to his friends in the battalion, he was popular, outgoing and kind hearted. Senior officers described him as a dedicated soldier and leader soon due for promotion. Nine days before his death, LCpl Breeze pulled his patrol commander to safety and administered first aid after the captain was shot in a firefight on the frontline.
LCpl Breeze leaves behind his mother Florence, father Anthony, sister Gaynor, brother Anthony, fiancée Lorraine Walker and her children, along with other relatives and friends. His family issued a statement: "We are very proud of a brave, loving and sincere son and brother. He served for 14 years in the Armed Forces and was recognised as an excellent soldier. The Army was his life. He is going to be desperately missed by his family and his fiancée."
Funeral with full military honours was held on July 6, 2010 at Christ Church, Denton.
