Alternate spelling: Wolnowsky, many other variations
Johann Wolnowski arrived at Castle Garden July 26, 1887 from Klein Languth, West Prussia, four months before his wife (Anna Kwiatkowski) and children. They settled in Detroit (Springwells Township), where they attended Zion Lutheran Church. Johann Sr. lived at 20 Morton Street, and all of his children and their spouses lived in the close vicinity (next door and also on Gilbert and Livernois). As of 1900, he and his wife, Annie, could only speak German, and Johann was a laborer at a pipe factory.
Johann Wolnowsky Sr.'s father was Christian Wolnowsky. His mother's name is unknown to me.
