Emogene was the second daughter born to Jacob Eugene Couch and Laura Opal Beckham. She first married John Edgar Ward and they had one daughter, Nita Johnette.
Emogene was married several times but she had no other children. She is buried beside her husband Albert Curry. Additional husbands were Jesse Vance Toliver, Sherwood Grogan and L.D.Koenig.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Benny Allcorn officiating. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, at Heartland Funeral Home. Following the service, the body will be cremated.
Iris Emogene Couch was born March 28, 2006, in Zephyr, Texas, the daughter of the late Jacob Eugene and Laura Opal Beckham Crouch. Iris worked at Montgomery Wards, Kermit Hospital and was a manager at Chicken on the Run as well as a homemaker. She was married to John Ward and then Albert Curry, and both preceded her in death. She was a member of Early First United Methodist Church and lifelong resident of Brown County.
Survivors include her daughter, Nita Johnette French of Early; sisters: Norma Anita Beaty of Luling and Katherine Marie Cornelius of Brownwood; her granddaughter, Tonya Smallwood and husband James of Abilene; and her great-grandchildren, Brendan, Brittanee and Breanna.
She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands.
