Death of John P. Dunkle - John P. Dunkle, a former Nevada mining man, died at his home 47 East Fifteenth Street, Friday night after a lingering illness.
Mr. Dunkle was born in McArthur Town, Athens County, Ohio, February 9, 1831. In Benton County, Ohio, he was elected Treasurer for two terms and one term as Assessor. He moved to Iowa in 1873 and three years later moved to Eureka, Nevada, where he became interested in mining. He served on term in the Nevada. Legislature, and became well known in that state. In 1891 Mr. Dunkle moved to Grants Pass, and six years later came to Portland. He is survived by one son and two daughters - D. W. Dunkle, of Blair, Nevada; Miss Jennie, of Portland, and a married daughter of Nevada.

Funeral services will be held from the above residence today (Monday), October 19, at 2:30 P. M. Friends invited. Interment in family lot in Lone Fir Cemetery.
