Carmia (Connie) Etta Owenby was born April 4, 1890, in Broad River, Bucombe County, North Carolina (currently not a town), the daughter of Daniel R. Owenby and Ollie A. Moffitt Owenby. Her grandparents were Caleb and Adeline Rhodes Owenby and James and Nancy Murphy Moffitt.
On December 30, 1906, Connie married Henry Thomas White in Marion, McDowell Co., North Carolina; Rev. Z. Paris officiating.
Carmia and Henry had four children:
Robert Claudius "Ralph" White b. 1910-1992
Edyth Gertrude "Helen" White (Stevens) b. 1912-2007
Mildred Anton White (Herron) b. 1913-1989
Charles Clifford White b. 1915-2006
Carmia "Connie" died on February 12, 1923 in Nelsontown, Sullivan Co., Tennessee; of double pneumonia.
She is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Kingsport, Tenn.
