ANNA KATHARINE POYSER
Mrs. Anna Katharine Poyser, 20, wife of Orville Poyser, Elkhart, route 2, five miles northwest of the city, died at 3:20 p.m. Thursday in Elkhart General hospital. She had been a patient there since March 2, when she underwent a major operation.
The funeral will be held Sunday, with a short prayer at the home at 2 p.m. (cst) and another services at 2:30 (cst), at the Elkhart Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in the Adamsville cemetery. The Rev. C. C. Chatfield will officiate. The body may be viewed at the home beginning this evening and until the hour of the funeral.
Surviving beside Mr. Poyser are the parents of the deceased, Charles A. and Lilah (Covey) Bement, who since the destruction of their own home by fire on March 25 have been living at the Poyser home; a son Lemuel Curtis poyser, age 5 months; a brother, Charles Bement Jr., of Elkhart, and two other brothers, George and Richard, and three sisiters, Barbara, Mary and Florence Bement at home.
Mrs. Poyser was born in Cass County, Michigan, on Nov. 10, 1919. Her marriage to Mr. Poyser took place June 11, 1938.
At the time of the fire that destroyed their home Mrs. Bement was calling her daughter at the hospital and Mr. Bement was at his work in Elkhart for the Isabell Lumber & Coal Co. The blaze started from an overheated stove in a small room when several children were heating wather for laundering. Barbara Bement, breaking a window pane with her fist suffered a cut which required several stitches to close.
