Eddie Mefford, 59, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away December 16, 2001 in Logan Acres Nursing Home.
He was born May 31, 1942 in Clark County, Ohio, the son of Arthur and Melba(Jackson) Mefford.
Mr. Mefford, a United States Army Veteran, worked as a production supervisor for Detroit Aluminum Brass. He was a Quarter Master for Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1080 in Bellefontaine, Ohio; trustee for the Fraternal Order of Eagles Arie 1266; lifetime member of AmVets; member of the American Legion.
Mr. Mefford was an avid sports fan. He loved softball, baseball, football, basketball and golf. A pitcher and first baseman, Mr. Mefford was inducted into the Ohio Softball Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his parents; companion of 18 years, Brenda Huffman of Bellefontaine, Ohio; four sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Carri Mefford of Dublin, Ohio; Chris and Mindy Mefford of Windsor, Ontario, Canada; Vern and Dee Huffman of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Matt Huffman and Andy Craig of Bellefontaine, Ohio; two daughters and son-in-law, Lori and Roger Bingham of Connersville, Indiana, Vanessa Salaz of Bowling Green, Ohio; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard Leaton and Tommie Mefford of Springfield, Raymond and Becky Mefford of Springfield; two sisters and brother-in-law, June and Dale Warner of Springfield, Fonda Alltop of Springfield; 14 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Donald Mefford.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Richards, Raff and Dunbar Memorial Home. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the International Pentecostal Church of Christ with Rev. Richard Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
