Inez Browning Marshall, age 87 of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on June 7, 2010, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Marshall was a native of Merryville, Louisiana and graduated from Merryville High School. She moved to Lake Charles to attend Vincent Business College from which she graduated.
In 1940, she married Helton B. Marshall and they remained married until his death in 1994. Mrs. Marshall was employed by Olin Corporation for 45 years. She was the first female purchasing agent in the Olin Corporation system. Both prior to and following retirement, she traveled extensively, with her husband prior to his death, and also with her closest friend, Mary Clark, and with family members Rufus and Shirley Marshall and Melba and Mano Stine. She was a member of Lake City Baptist Church. She was also a member of Ruth Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was a volunteer for many worthy causes, feeding policemen, firemen, Red Cross workers and church members. But her greatest joy was her family. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son, Helton Gayle Marshall and wife, Ann, of Lake Charles, two grandchildren, Mike Marshall and wife, LeAnna of Lake Charles and Megan Marshall Harper and husband, Dan of Spring, Texas and three great grandchildren, Noah Harper, Hayden Harper and Reese Harper. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Lorena Pounds, two nieces, Sandra Marshall Landry and Alice Joyce Robertson and three nephews, Delbert Thomas "Beanie" Marshall, Jr., Gary Browning and James Browning.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Helton B. Marshall, her parents, Henry and Alice Browning, and her brother, Frank Browning.
Funeral services will be Wednesday June 9, 2010 at 10am at Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Ronnie Estes will officiate.
Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.
