Funeral for Emil Poppe Held Friday

Funeral services for Emil Poppe.85,of Route 1,Weimar,were held Friday,April 20,from Hubbard Funeral Chapel,with burial in New Bielau Cemetery.

Rev.Luther Oelke officiated.

Mr.Poppe died at 7:12 a.m. Wednesday,April 18,at his home.

A retired farmer and rancher,he was a lifelong resident of this area.He was born Oct. 9,1893,a son of Henry and Meta (Ehlers) Poppe.He married Emma Ehlers at Runge on Nov. 6,1917.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church here.

His wife survives,along with one son,Lee Earl Poppe Sr.,and one daughter,Mrs.Lawrence Muehr sr.,both of Weimar;five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren;one sister,Mrs.Frieda Thumann and one brother Henry Poppe,both of Weimar.

A son,two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were Lee Earl Poppe Jr.,Robert W. Poppe,Lawrence Allan Muehr,Gary Muehr,Donald Ray Muehr,and Adolf Thumann.
