W L G "Bill" Davis Dies Here; Rites Tuesday
W L G "Bill"Davis, 64, died early today in Phoebe Putney Hospital, following a long illness. As a result of a stroke, he had been in Georgia Care Nursing for the past three years.
He was a life-long resident of Albany and had been active in local business areas until the stroke.
Mr Davis was primarily responsible for the housing of the Albany Junior Museum giving the William E "Tete" Smith house, Mr Davis' mother's home to the City.
He was born Aug 9, 1906, and was the son of the late Dr and Mrs W L Davis. His wife, the former Eva Arnold, died Sept 9 1966.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs William E Gleaton, Jr (the former Edwina Davis) and Mrs Gerry Hall (the former Ada Davis), both of Albany, and Mrs Jule Peek (the former Sally Davis) of Cedartown; two sisters Mrs J B Lanier and Mrs Sam Marshall, both of Albany and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 pm in First Baptist Church. The Rev Jack Key will officiate. Interment will be in Oakview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Easter Seal.

Bill Davis Rites held
The funeral for W L G "Bill" Davis, who died Monday at Phoebe Putney Hospital, was held at 2 pm today at the First Baptist Church, with Rev Jack Key officiating. Interment was at Oakview Cemetery.
He was a life-long resident of Albany and had been active in local business for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs William E Gleaton, Jr and Mrs Gerry Hall both of Albany and Mrs Jule Peek of Cedartown; Two sisters Mrs J B Lanier Sr and Mrs Sam Marshall both of Albany, and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Donal Lanier, Bradwell Lanier, Donald Parks, Courtenay Wrightman and James Pierce.
Oakland Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
