Mrs. W. S. Sanders, 73, succumbed at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. C. Cookston, in Winnfield, Tuesday, Oct. 3, 1944, at 2 p.m., following an illness of many years. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church, Dodson, Wednesday, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. H. B. Hysell and the Rev. Roy Grant officiating. Burial followed in the Transport Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Acting as pallbearers were Hoy Sanders, Alibi Perry, Dale Perry, Bob Sanders, Brent Hulsey, and Clayton Norred.

A native of Jackson Parish, Mrs. Sanders was before her marriage in 1888, Miss Ada Anders, daughter of the late W. M. Anders and Margaret Stovall Anders. In 1907 Mrs. Sanders and her husband, a teacher in Jackson Parish, moved to Dodson to have the advantages of the Dodson High School which was established that year. Nine children were born to them, two of whom, Huff Sanders and George Sanders, are now deceased. Her husband also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Sanders was a member of the Dodson Methodist Church and was a Christian worker in the church and community. She leaves a host of relatives and friends.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Malma Cookston, Winnfield; Mrs. Cora Terrell, Dodson; Mrs. Bernice Branch, Shreveport; and Mrs. Jimmie Aycock, DeRidder; two sons, Dewey Sanders, Monroe, and Arnold Sanders, Shreveport; and one sister, Mrs. L. L. Lee of Dodson.

She also leaves 27 grandchildren, six of whom are in the Armed Forces; and five great grandchildren.
