Eugene Wilkins, 72, died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at his residence in rural Blair.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, June 26, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.

Jackie Eugene "Duck" Wilkins was born Nov. 15, 1931, in Blair to Chauncey and Hannah (Drager) Wilkins. He was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Blair and graduated from Blair High School in 1949.

In 1952, he married Nancy Jean Wilson and shortly thereafter, he left for service in the U.S. Army. He served with distinction in the Korean War, attaining the rank of sergeant.

He farmed and raised livestock with his wife his entire life in Washington County, near Blair. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and later, card games with friends.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons and daughters-in-law, Chauncey and Mary Martha Wilkins, and Frank and Jacque Wilkins, all of Blair, Daniel and Vicki Wilkins, Omaha; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Kuhr of Blair and Doris Koposis of Omaha; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald and Sidney, and sister, Marjorie.
